Flash nonfiction is a current term for a very old literary form: the brief first-person essay. In this course we will read flash essays for inspiration, then use some unconventional means—making lists, for example—to find our way to stories we didn’t know we had in us. This is not a writing workshop in the traditional sense, but those who want to share their work will have plenty of chances to do so.
