This intergenerational course will introduce the planets and stars in the universe we call home: the Milky Way. Led by a team of astronomers and intergalactic experts, participants will become acquainted with our astral neighbors through a series of interactive lectures, exercises, and hands-on experiences with powerful telescopes and other devices that can offer up-close views not accessible to the average enthusiast. The extraordinary resources of the Talcott Mountain Science Center and Academy and the staff will provide a mind-expanding educational and entertaining experience for earthlings—children between ages 8 and 14, accompanied by adults (parents, grandparents, or trusted guardians)—who wish to free themselves from the bonds of gravity for an out-of-this-world adventure.
