Listening for the Echo: A workshop in creative writing

This daylong event will bring the Connecticut writer, professor, and humorist Gina Barreca to campus to share her practical approach to creative writing in a number of literary genres. Beginning with the premise that “the secret to writing is writing,” she will help you discover the echo within that signals the presence of a story waiting to be told. The day will start with a series of animating questions and answers that will help you “understand what to write and how to write it.” The afternoon will feature breakout sessions with practical coaching on the fundamentals of good writing and individualized attention. Lunch will be provided, and copies of the instructor’s books will be available for you to purchase and have autographed.
