Diane Simpson: Cardboard-Plus, 1977-1980 documents the artist's first body of work in sculpture and includes works on paper from the late 1970s. The catalog was published in conjunction with the exhibition, Diane Simpson: Cardboard-Plus, 1977-1980, January 28 - March 1, 2020, Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery, Center for the Arts, Wesleyan University. The catalog includes an essay by the exhibition's curator as well as an interview with the artist by Benjamin Chaffee and Jasmin Tsou.

Born in 1935, Diane Simpson is a Chicago-based artist who for the past 40 years has created sculptures and preparatory drawings that evolve from a diverse range of sources, including clothing, utilitarian objects, and architecture. She has exhibited widely in the U.S. and abroad, most recently at the 2019 Whitney Biennial. In 2010, a 30 year retrospective was held at the Chicago Cultural Center, and she has had solo exhibitions at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago and the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston.
