Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts is an artistic center housed within a physical complex also called the Center for the Arts. The eleven-building complex was designed by Kevin Roche/John Dinkeloo Architects and opened in the fall of 1973. By juxtaposing several highly flexible buildings, the architecture preserves the individual integrity of each of the arts while at the same time encouraging creative interaction between them. Undergraduate programs housed in the complex include Art and Art History, Dance, Music, and Theater, as well as graduate programs in Music. Performance and exhibition spaces include Crowell Concert Hall, World Music Hall, Ring Family Performing Arts Hall, CFA Theater, and Ezra and Cecile Zilkha Gallery.
